ScreenPlay

Two years ago, Applied
Magic committed to the corporate goal of developing the
consummate tool for video editing and production. After much
deliberation, and extensive solicitations from end users, we
determined that such a system would need to fulfill three main
end-user requirements:
|
1. |
High video quality |
|
2. |
Real-time performance |
|
3. |
Easy-to-use/Intuitive user interface environment.
|
Additionally, our
quest revealed that the system itself must embody three key
characteristics:
|
1. |
Reliability – stable platform, no system crashes
and compatibility issues |
|
2. |
Flexibility – in terms of device connectivity and
I/O support |
|
3. |
Affordability – to expand the trade of video
editing |
The process also
revealed that personal computer (PC)-based editing systems
were too complex and suffered from incompatibility and
reliability issues. In order to meet target end user
requirements and also overcome the limitations of the PC,
Applied Magic determined that innovation was in order.
The result of our
efforts is a revolutionary new product we call
ScreenPlay™.
ScreenPlay™ is the
result of 2 years of effort. At the heart of the system is a
custom integrated circuit called Grimoire™ that represents an
audio/video mixing and graphics effects engine. The system,
which has 63 patent-pending claims, delivers high video
quality and real-time performance in a reliable, easy-to-use
and affordable platform.
ScreenPlay Interface
Features
ScreenPlay's easy to
use interface is the gateway to this very powerful editing
system.

A - The clips
bin is a good place to organize all of your video clips. Want
to add one to your production? Just drag and place it on your
storyboard wherever you want it. By pressing the arrows to the
left and right of "Clips," you toggle to the transitions,
graphics and effects bins where you can drag and place
different effects on to your production and play them back in
real time!
B -
The Storyboard is where you build your production.
The video clips, transitions, and effects form the top line of
your storyboard. Under that, add moving titles and two stereo
audio tracks in addition to the audio attached to your
clips.
C -
This quarter screen real time playback window is one
of the biggest video playback windows available. It gives you
real-time video playback of individual clips or an entire
storyboard with all of its transitions, effects, titles and
audio, just like your final master. Not big enough for you?
You can always use our full screen version, which delivers all
the same real time features!
D -
This tab shows you ScreenPlay's Editing screen is
active
E -
This tab brings up ScreenPlay's Titler where you can
create elaborate titles with graphics, drop shadows, and
more.
F -
This tab brings up the toolbox of User Options where
you can make global settings such as choosing a language for
the on-screen display.
G -
Press here to bring up the Details Editor, giving you
complete control of every aspect of your production. Use the
Details Editor to fine tune your video and audio editing, make
gamma corrections, customize your transitions, add motion to
your graphics, create your own effects and much more. See the
results in real time!
